Eastside Hui

Contact: eastsidehui@hotmail.com

Mission:

To help manage the protect all the resources of
East Maui (Koolau, Hana, Kipahulu, Kaupo)
for present and future generations.

Code of Conduct:

  • Observe all fish and game laws
  • Maintain a high standard of ethics
  • Always be fair and honest
  • Always conduct yourself in a courteous and mature fashion
*If you are approached by someone claiming to be Eastside Hui and they do not uphold these codes of conduct, they are not part of our organization.

We, the "Keiki o ka `Aina" are directly affected by the overuse of our resources. If we don't convey our feelings and express our concerns for our lands, seas and forests, we are partly to blame.

"He ali`i ka `aina, he kauwa ke kanaka."
Land is the chief, mankind her servant.

DISPELL THE MYTHS

There are many stories floating around our mokupuni of Maui and even going across the channels to our neighboring islands which are UNTRUE of the Eastside Hui.

We are a group of Keiki o ka `aina who deeply care for our home. Our code of conduct specifically states that we are a non-violent group. If there are individuals who claim to be the Eastside Hui but conduct themselves in an inappropriate manner, they automatically forfeit their right to represent the Hui. We are educators first, leaving the regulating to the officials.

FICTION/FALSE ACCUSATIONS

  • Hui members use guns to intimidate outsiders
  • Hui members kick people out of Hana
  • Hui members vandalize cars

THE HUI HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THESE KINDS OF ACTIONS!
